ABOUT KURT ESCOBAR
Kurt is an Associate Professor of Exercise Physiology and Co-Director of the Physiology of EXercise and Sport (PEXS) Laboratory at California State University, Long Beach. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at California State University, Fresno and completed his PhD at the University of New Mexico.

His research centers on how exercise and nutrition can improve human health, function, and performance. His work ranges from exercise metabolism, the effects of exercise and nutrition on metabolic health, and sports nutrition, to the cellular responses to exercise including autophagy. He teaches courses on the physiology of exercise, exercise programming and prescription in health and disease, and exercise nutrition.

Kurt has also has spent over a decade as a practitioner in the field of training and nutrition. He is an International Society of Sports Nutrition Certified Sports Nutritionist and National Strength & Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer. He has worked with a wide array of populations including young healthy adults, older adults, and individuals with chronic conditions. He has worked with clients to help improve body composition, increase muscle mass and strength, manage symptoms of chronic disease, and improve quality of life..
